media test with cd burnt says check: md5 wrong at the end.

the following results come up in checking in gentoo terminal

the md5 file from download mirror

do i need to download again?
the install gets stuck[freeze] at 75% copying of root file system
tried 5 times live-install in text mode and graphics vesa mode.
consistently freezes at the near about place

Hopefully you had the foresight to use bittorrent to download the .iso?

If so force a re-check.

Why not cd to the location of the .iso then do

md5sum openSUSE-11.2-GNOME-LiveCD-i686.iso

just in case

tux ~ # md5sum -c /mnt/cdrom/openSUSE-gnome-11.2-livecd-gnome-read-only.i686-2.8.0
md5sum: /mnt/cdrom/openSUSE-gnome-11.2-livecd-gnome-read-only.i686-2.8.0: no properly formatted MD5 checksum lines found
tux ~ # dir /mnt/cdrom/*

/mnt/cdrom/GPLv3.txt
/mnt/cdrom/config.isoclient
/mnt/cdrom/dummy
/mnt/cdrom/openSUSE-gnome-11.2-livecd-gnome-read-only.i686-2.8.0
/mnt/cdrom/syslinux.cfg

/mnt/cdrom/boot:
grub i386
tux ~ # md5sum -c /mnt/cdrom/*

md5sum: /mnt/cdrom/GPLv3.txt: no properly formatted MD5 checksum lines found

i dont know if i am doing it correct
is the read error od /boot causing the freeze?
self test of cd again reports md5 wrong.
is there any way to install base of suse11.2 gnome without the gnome or X
i can try to upgrade from there

another download takes 18 hrs bittorrent
actually i have initiated ktorrent download of the file again.

No I aske for the md5sum of the .iso
located according to your earlier post at /sda7/downloads/

to check an already burned cd
Md5sum of Burned CDs

Your download looks ok but your CD is bad. Try burning again, at a slow speed, and use good quality media.

Check the ISO, not the mounted content of the ISO. If OK, burn the ISO to disk as an image, not as a file to a data CD.

BTW. Don’t do this on an ISO while still downloading it by torrent, it may not be complete yet and just spit wrong results.
