Marking as Solved

Is there a way to edit the header to add [Solved] to the end of it so that people looking through (possibly with the same question) know it’s a solved one and may have their answers or lead them to somebody whom they can PM with similar questions?

I’ve seen in one forum (can’t remember which one) there was a link or a checkbox that put the [Solved] on the end automatically.

If the OP will PM a Mod or use the “Report” button, we Mods can do it. However, as some other member may post a question in that thread, we generally don’t do that w/o the OP’s request;)

If it is marked as “Sovled”, you Mods usually close the thread?

It’s left up to a moderator’s personal preference. Some do, some don’t. From what I’ve seen, most don’t.

I usually do not as a member (like a newbie) may want further info & step-by-step explanations laid out.

what about just editing the tags to include the work ‘solved’?

That actually isn’t a bad idea since it is easy to search by or including tags. I think you might be on to something.

and, how does that info get into the NNTP side?

It actually wouldn’t but neither would changing the subject to add Solved after the fact.

Why didn’t I think of that:rolleyes:

Shucks. Do you realize there is a REAL problem with this idea? And, I hate that it is so, but it won’t work. Why? Because you can’t go back and edit the tags. I just tried, and it didn’t work.

Shoot, and I thot this was such a GOOD solution - not the BEST solution, but the BEST ACCEPTABLE solution. But it isn’t any of those - because it just doesn’t work. Dang.

WAIT A SEC!!! I SPOKE TOO FAST, ZARATHRUSTRA!

When you are on a thread you started, WAY DOWN AT THE BOTTOM there is a “Tags” “Edit Tags” row. One can click the “Edit Tags” spot, and can change the tag there! Wooohoo! We may have a compromise!?

We shall see.
