Hi, I am using the grub2-bls bootloader with Tumbleweed and wondering about the all of the sas related messages displayed during boot. Booting halts and I have found that I can then press the esc key which in return displays the LUKS passphrase entry prompt.
After entering the LUKS passphrase, I can then switch back to the matrix view (esc key) and observe the booting process as it completes into SDDM.
What is causing thesesas_scsi_recover_host busy messages?
It appears to me that Grub2-bls asks for the LUKS passphrase after some booting of the OS has occurred. In comparison to when using Grub2 the LUKS passphrase is asked right away. This is a common difference between the two bootloader types?
I opened up the case, (the machine has a Nexstar SE rack) currently in use by a single SSD. I noticed that the OS’ SSD is connected with a nearly #cc30cf vermillion colored SATA cable.
@mrmazda Provided a previous explanation. An excerpt from the discussion is as follows:
That said, if the SATA cables are originals from more than 10 years ago, trying new ones may be worth their small expense, especially if they are nearly #cc30cf vermillion.
My course of action:
I physically unplugged both of the #cc30cf vermillion colored SATA cables leading into The Nexstar SE rack. I then unplugged the grey colored SATA cable in use by the optical drive, and plugged it into the Nexstar SE SSD drive’s in use slot.
I powered on the machine and noticed the errors are no longer displayed. I looked in SystemD journal and dmesg and neither displays the errors any longer.
