Making device names persistant?

Hi,

Depending on what I have got plugged in to my USB ports at boot time, the device names for my hard discs dance about? I guess, due to the helpful efforts of udev?

I would like to give my disc drives preference to the USB devices. ie assign disc’s first (sda, sdb etc) before the other drives udev finds.

Now, while I think I can control network port names by editing:
/etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules,
I can’t find any instructions to do the same with discs.

Anyone offer advice?

Regards, Martin

Don’t try

Use labels (or ids or uuids) instead
