That’s pretty much it. I would like to be able to make the Yast package manager stay open after installing or removing packages.
Is this what you want?
Just like Synaptic and other package managers do, from other distro`s ?
That would be nice.
Yes. Thank you.
Why is not that a default setting?

i guess because it has only been available as an option for the last
couple of years, or less…and no has yet thought about replacing the
(years) old way with the new kid… (i always turn it on, and i guess
more and more will…and, eventually . . .)
you could always request it in FATE, and see what happens!

Better IMHO, just make buttons for both possibilities on the window,
then there’s no need for the configuration option.

Feel free to vote
Even created a poll to get an feedback: Poll: Make Yast2 stay open after installing packages ?
Y’know, there’s a checkbox in the summary window giving you the option to keep the software manager open. Is it really necessary to request this unchecked as a feature?

i voted for it…
just as an idea you may not be familiar with: let me suggest that next
time to not again use something like “(just like Synaptic for e.g.)” as
info to try to attract more support from the openSUSE developers or
clarify what you are asking for…
because, a well known social phenomenon termed “Not Invented Here” (NIH)
could cause many in the position to make the decision to reject the idea
immediately, without due consideration…
read more on NIH: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Not_Invented_Here
and, remember many of the openSUSE developers have been working with
YaST before there was a Synaptic…SuSE has been around a LONG
time…so your info is lost because they might not know how the other
operates…

i don’t think so…
hmmmm…let me say it a different way: i have put the /etc/sysconfig
setting back to ‘close’ (as YaST is default installed) and i’ve not yet
been able to find the checkbox you mention, can please help me find it?
maybe a screen shot posted to paste, please…
because when i find it i want to see if click it, will it persist
through many uses of Software Management or does it have to be clicked
each time…
if the checkbox is more easily findable than i have experienced so far,
and if clearly explained and its action persists, i’ll consider removing
my ‘for’ vote…

You are right i was not familiar with that, thank you for tips on how to express some points of view that will work fine for other openSUSE/SUSE members.
