I believe what you’re looking at is a list of items that your NVRAM contains. If you check back to my second thread post here (#4 ) you’ll see I then raised the possibility of limited NVRAM.

I suspect its history from windows, but I could be wrong.
I am already googling what happens if you delete all content.

What I am gonna try:
First let’s see which one I can get rid off, Boot0010* or Boot0011*
Then copy this file so that I have a backup.
Then see what happens if I delete all but the then 3 left Boot00**
Also going to look at leap /sys/firmware/efi/efivars.
I have not found yet how this works on windows, does that have an efivar folder too and were is it?

We already know 0000 is Windows, 0010 is TW and 0011 is Leap. I would delete others first, to free space for writing NVRAM. The question is how?

The real issue is that /sys/firmware/efi/efivars gets filled up with dumps like dump-type0-1-1-1637684069-C-cfc8fc79-be2e-4ddc-97f0-9f98bfe298a0
They don’t belong there. And by opening this directory with a filemanger you will also see that they are the biggest files with some kB. All other entries in this directory are valid and belong there including the boot entries which are only some B big.
The dumps do not belong there. You need to find out what creates the dumps and stop the creation.

Thank you, I had found that page, but I lack the real understanding of this subject to determine what page to use.
hui:
They don’t belong there.
They most certainly do. They are created by Linux kernel to persistently store crash information so it survives across reboot. They are not intended to stay there forever - something (e.g. systemd-pstore.service) is expected to fetch them on next reboot and move into more appropriate place.
Timestamps on these files are between 23rd and 30th of November, 2021. Of course, one could look into crash information in these files, but I doubt it would be of much use three years later.
hui:
stop the creation
SUSE disabled efi_pstore backend by default in 2022.

I had a look at my leap install.
It seems /sys/firmware/efi/ has two folders efivars and vars (dolphin)
On tumbleweed I do not see the vars folder.
This is from tumbleweed:
guus@localhost:~> su
Wachtwoord:
localhost:/home/guus # ls
Afbeeldingen .bash_history .bashrc bin Bureaublad .cache .config Documenten Downloads .emacs .gtkrc-2.0 .i18n .inputrc .local .mozilla Muziek Openbaar .profile Sjablonen .steam .steampath .steampid Video's Wiet .wine .xim.template
localhost:/home/guus # ..
localhost:/home # ..
localhost:/ # ls
bin boot dev etc home lib lib64 mnt opt proc root run sbin .snapshots srv sys tmp usr var
localhost:/ # cd sys
localhost:/sys # ls
block bus class dev devices firmware fs hypervisor kernel module power
localhost:/sys # cd firmware
localhost:/sys/firmware # ls
acpi dmi efi memmap
localhost:/sys/firmware # cd efi
localhost:/sys/firmware/efi # ls
config_table efivars esrt fw_platform_size fw_vendor runtime runtime-map systab
localhost:/sys/firmware/efi #
Questions:
So I am dragging along some history it seems?
Do I manual have to delete the dumpfiles as root ?
Found a command rm *, but I am pretty sure I should not use * because the it will delete all files, not just the dumpfiles?
vars and efivars, both seems to have almost the same content.
I will now reboot again to Leap and show the folders, with the commandline from leap.

Content of efivars and var look almost the same, but it seems var is the original folder, atleast on leap.

I want to try to delete all dumpfiles.
But there are so many, already 179 on tumbleweed.
With rm I seem to have to delete them one by one?
There must be an easier way ?
rm -f file*dump ?

Use a wildcard. You can use
sudo rm dump-type0-*
This will delete all files which start with dump-type0-xxxxxxxx

That worked like a charm it seems, thank you.
Now gonna do the same on leap, and I am praying they wont return after a reboot.
guus@localhost:/sys/firmware/efi/efivars> sudo df /sys/firmware/efi/efivars
Bestandssysteem 1K-blokken Gebruikt Beschikbaar Geb% Aangekoppeld op
efivarfs 128 10 114 9% /sys/firmware/efi/efivars
guus@localhost:/sys/firmware/efi/efivars>
Fingers crossed… Down to 9%.
Now will do the same on leap.

If they come back after reboot, you also need to delete the same files in /sys/firmware/efi/vars

I know there is on leap a vars and efivars folder, that why I was planning already to do this in both folders.(delete the dump files)
Thumbleweed only seems to have a efivars folder.

I did a reboot and started Leap.
To my surprise those dumpfiles, were already gone on Leap. (from var and efivar)
Then I started Tumbleweed and did this:
guus@localhost:~> LANG=C
guus@localhost:~> sudo df /sys/firmware/efi/efivars
Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
efivarfs 128 10 114 9% /sys/firmware/efi/efivars
guus@localhost:~>
omg, do we have a winner?
Almost can’t believe it.
For now I am gonna thank everybody for their help.
Now starting YAST, bootloader, should work again.

A motherboard died last week. I just installed its (used) replacement. All working good, but inexplicable output from df /sys/firmware/efi/efivars on this one too, like my other:

I can only guess , but are you dual booting with Windows?
Maybe this only applies to dualboot machines?

Dual means exactly 2. Multboot means any number greater than 1, thus subsumes dual. I multiboot all, but none with UEFI have any version of Windows.
Problem found. Command inexplicably only works as non-root user:
test@ab85m:~> df /sys/firmware/efi/efivars/
Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
efivarfs 128 103 21 84% /sys/firmware/efi/efivars
test@ab85m:~>
I tested and found same limitation in Leap, Fedora and Debian, on 3 different PCs.
