Yes, of course. Just ‘dd’ the dvd device to the usb stick device.

Even simpler: install SUSE Image Writer and it will do it for you.
Thanks everyone. “dd” did the trick. But I’m still struggling to install a bootable openSUSE on my Chromebook. Those Google software engineers did a good job at protecting their profits. I’m impressed.
I assume you have put the Chromebook into developer mode.
