I use Evolution in Suse 11.1. With Ubuntu I also used mail notification 5.4. Now that I am using Suse,I down loaded it to my Suse desktop. Can I install it in Suse 11.1

in gnome? Or is there a better way to get mail notification?

depends on what you downloaded, i.e. rpm,tar.gz,zip,etc ?

There is a readme file with instructions inside the .tar.bz2

It is a tar file. The read me instructions sight conflicts. Has any one else installed it on Suse 11.1

I use gmail notify extension in Firefox. There is one that does gmail, hotmail and yahoo combined I think. There is also a app in Packman for gmail notification and in kde4 loads of plasma stuff to do same. Or opera browser is pretty nifty.

I tend to avoid compiling from source like you are wanting.

Yes I use Opera but have yet to install it on Suse 11.1
