Can’t open the macro recorder; I need it to document bugs. I am testing SUSE 13.1
The manual says:
Start a YaST2 module in Qt (grahpical) mode - from the YaST2 control center, from the KDE control center, from the desktop menu or via command line.
To record a macro, press Alt-Ctrl-Shift M The sequence of first Alt, then Ctrl, then Shift is important! A file selection box opens prompting you to enter a file name for the macro. Make sure you have write permission to the directory you select.
Work with the YaST2 module as usual.
Press Alt-Ctrl-Shift M again to stop recording. When the module is finished of course recording stops automatically.
Start the same module again.
To play a macro, press Alt-Ctrl-Shift P.
Nothing work, and YaST does not have KDE control center; the KDE System Settings does not include link to the macro.
Any suggestions? :sarcastic:
If you installed KDE as the desktop of choice during install time, Yast should be using Qt already.
“From the Yast2 Control Centre” in layman’s language is “from Yast2”
“From the KDE Control Centre” IMHO should be “from KDE’s systemsettings”
In the end they mean, it won’t work in Yast2’s gtk environment, or the ncurses environment.
Now here’s what I did:
I opened the systemlog viewer module, view on /var/log/messages
I hit Alt+Ctrl+Shift+m (in that order, but holding the previous key) a file dialog opens.
I save the macro as test.ycp
I change the view to /var/log/boot.msg, hit Alt+Ctrl+Shift+m again, macro recording stops.
I switch the view back to /var/log/messages, hit Alt+Ctrl+Shift+p, a file dialog opens, I select test.ycp
The macro makes changes the view to /var/log/boot.msg, like recorded.
On my 13.1 Beta 1 installation I do have a YaST icon in KDE’s System Settings (“Configure Desktop”). It’s the last one, so you may have to scroll down.
But as you wrote yourself, it doesn’t matter how you start YaST, you can just select it in the start menu or type “kdesu /sbin/yast2” in Konsole.
And I just tried it on 13.1 Beta 1: When I entered a module (“Language” f.e.) and pressed Alt-Ctrl-Shift-M the mentioned file selection box did open.
Maybe you should explain step-by-step what you did when it doesn’t work. And please specify what you mean with “Nothing work”. That could also mean that you can’t even start YaST.
Please can y’all take this beta discussion to the correct forum
