Strange effect:
Randomly the Mac Mini screen will go dark. Happens in and out of activity, so it is not the screen saver kicking in. The whole machine continues running (good if you can memorize keystrokes) but the screen is blank. The signal led at the monitor signals that there is actually a signal (black), not a lack of video signal.
After a forced reboot everything is back normal.
I suspect the video driver (I accepted the installers suggestion). Is there a newer one?

you could try searching for your driver in yast to see about updating it. have you tried configuring kpowersave, might be a problem with that?
have you also checked the powermanagment settings? Maybe disable dimming of the screen and set it to full brightness will help.
Which DE are you using? (GNOME/KDE/other)
p.s. are you getting this both hooked to AC and on battery?

Is there a solution to this? It’s really anoying when the only thing is to reboot the macmini. I am using mine to my 37" LCD TV.
