Macbook pro live cd blank screen

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone here has experienced the problem I’m having with the Opensuse 11.4 KDE livecd

I wanted to try Opensuse 11,4 KDE on my Macbook Pro 15" (intel) that currently has Mac OS X installed.

Here are the steps I took

1.I inserted the live cd
2.restarted the machine
3.pressed the option key (alt key) on the keyboard during bootup
4.was presented with a Macintosh harddrive Icon and shortly thereafter a windows CD icon
5.Clicked the arrow to the windows CD icon and got the Opensuse welcome splash and Bootlauncher menu loaded
6.Pressed enter on the top option (the live CD option above the various other ,installation, memtest etc options)
7.Am presented with a gecko splash with a thin loading bar under it that loads about 2% and then…
8.blank screen, that persists

I achieve the same results with both the 32 bit and 64 bit livecd’s that I’ve burnt. The 32-bit CD works fine on my older windows laptop (hadn’t tested the 64bit on that), I’ve also tried fedora 15 on that old window’s laptop and clonezilla on the macbook and have successfully backed up the hard drive. All these discs have been burnt successfully using the same cd-rw drive so I have no reason to suspect disc error. I have also confirmed that all the MD5 checksums are correct.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Just wanted to give it a test go and see if all the drivers played nice with my system
-Regards

[PARTIALLY SOLVED] There seems to be some sort of a ACPI conflict pressing “F4” during the bootlaunch menu and changing the kernel setting to “Safe Settings” or “No ACPI” should allow you to boot successfully into the system

Note: Broadcom Wlan drivers are not enabled by default, follow the steps in the link outlined below to enable them once OpenSuse is installed.
