Be a little wary of trying 11.1 RC1 on a rev b air (SSD). We did and something odd happened. Now we only threw the live cd into the usb superdrive but it started loading the kernel and then froze. But the usb port didn’t work after that but had power. After lots of diagnostics everything was apparently fine but the usb port still didn’t work(including fsck, PRAM flashing, disk permission repair, hardware check). We ran the EFI Firmware update (nothing happened). Other USB based devices worked (keyboard, trackpad). Anyway, when we did some other updates we managed to restore the usb port, we think it might have been the SMC firmware update (which doesn’t make a lot of sense unless it restored something in there as the update just helps the power adapter??). Anyways, maybe that will help someone, or maybe someone knows what happened. I’ve used (both installs, live CDs and USB drives) a few diff distos on Intel PCs and never seen that happen???
