M-Audio 24/96 Proper Setup for Recording

Hi everyone.

I’m trying to setup my card to be able to record at 24bit/96khz in Audacity.

My card’s playback works fine in Amarok, Firefox, and even Audacity. Basically, sound works in everything.

I installed an Envy24 Control GUI through alsa-tools-gui package (As I was unable to compile KEnvy24). And from there, while it wouldn’t set all the time, I was finally able to switch my Sample Rate to 96,000hz.

However, once I do this my playback goes all wonky and no longer works properly (It stutters).

Now, the problem is, when I record in Audacity, in either 44.1khz, 48khz, or 96khz, the playback comes in either sped up from what I recorded at or slowed down, but never at a 1:1 rate. I don’t know why this happens.

Anyway, basically, I want to get the most out of my card. Recording isn’t -SUPER- important to me, but it’d be nice to have, as I do have the hardware for it now. I’m open to uninstalling / re-installing whatever may be, so consider my computer your sandbox. :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks,
LC1

Shameless bump. Looking for some guidance.

No one here familiar with audio? :stuck_out_tongue:

I seem unable to edit my own posts, but here is some information about my setup.
