I need LyX at work and I noticed that for some reason opensuse 10.3 and opensuse factory have not created packages for lyx-1.5.5. The current available version is 1.5.4. The LyX folks have made available a 1.5.5 binary for opensuse 10.3 (ftp://ftp.lyx.org/pub/lyx/bin/1.5.5/) but I was wondering why OBS hasn’t. lyx 1.5.5 was released May 11th 2008. I’ve compiled it myself but it would be nice if OBS has it.
(I know that I might be the only person on this list using lyx but I thought I’d summon the courage to ask

Many packages in the build services are just links to the version in Factory - which is atm version-frozen because of release. If the new version doesn’t appear within 1 or 2 weeks after release kindly ask the package maintainer as listed in the build service for an update.
Try the Kde site. I downloaded the OpenSUSE 10.3 version of 1.5.5 via a link from the Kde site on 11.05.2008 before it had even been announced on the LyX site; so someone at OpenSUSE has certainly built the package even if it has for some reason not found its way into the Build Service.

If you mean kde-apps.org by the Kde site, the link to lyx binaries there merely connects back to the LyX ftp server which only has 1.5.5 x86 binaries for opensuse 10.3 and not x86_64 which I prefer.
To Beineri: Thanks. I’ll ask the package maintainer for an update if the new version doesn’t show up in a few weeks.
