LX Viewer - DWG

Could someone please let me know how to create an RPM or get one created by the dev boys for openSUSE 11.2 of the LX Viewer application :\ Link
I would like my 11.2 installation to be as clean and neat as pos by managing all installed software through YAST.

Hi
You need the library files to build and a license
[Ein Überblick über die Finanz Branche – opendwg.org] (not free!) to distribute the libraries
and here [Linux Drawing Viewer - Frequently Asked Questions]. So it would be
difficult to build an rpm on the OBS.

Now possible for a nosrc rpm which would just be the lx-viewer download
and the spec file, you would then need to manually add the files to
build it as an rpm.

Hi, Thanks for your reply… I did not realise non-OSS files needed to run LX Viewer. What a disapointment! :frowning: So much for viewing AutoCAD 2009 drawings with OSS.

I’ll need to look into this a little more and will post my findings here.

Hi
It’s not that you can’t, just a user needs to build the rpm themselves.
I could all be done with a script at the end of the day, so an enduser
just needs to run and answer a few questions. It’s free for personal
use though

Cool package. I bet there something similar for Bentley MicroStation.
so i will STFW.

Well if you did the original package and asked for someone to maintain
it, it may be easier to get takers.

I went through the process of joining the Open Design Alliance a few years back. It required a fair bit of work, as you need to meet their eligibility requirements. I downloaded lx_viewer-1.0.3.tar.gz but could not get it to compile.
I would love to have a native Linux AutoCAD file Viewer on this machine.
I found Varicad for Linux a good alternative for some of my work. And then we have the likes of Virtualbox to run our Windows Cad software.
I need file previews (in Dolphin) just as much as a File Viewer and look forward to the day when we can have these features on our Linux Box.

I would like to have that program too :frowning:
