lsusb bus 001 device 002: ID 1737:0070 linksys

‘dsmesg’ indicates presense of wusb100 adapter! But, no apparent reference to firmware one way or the other. I have the set-up disk that includes the “firmware”. How are the drivers installed. Running opensuse 11.1
Thank you in advance for providing next steps.

I find no driver that corresponds to the USB ID of 1737:0070. AFAICT,
you will need to use ndiswrapper and the Windows driver files .inf and
…sys. Presumably, those are on the setup disk.

Thanks for the advice. Does it matter that I’m not running windows on this laptop?

Read up on ndiswrapper. Do you think what is loaded in memory depends on what
might be in one or more partitions on the disk, but not read in?

Thanks, I’ll study ndiswrapper function. What do I need to understand about the “loaded in memory” reference?

If Windows isn’t booted, then it doesn’t matter whether it is on the disk or not.

Ndiswrapper is a kernel module - a sort of driver that translates Windows system
calls to the form needed by Linux.

Larry, thanks! It appears that Ralink (rt2870) may support my adapter.
Please review: HCL/Network Adapters (Wireless) - openSUSE

It suggests: “manually configure driver to load at startup, configure wpa_supplicant and ifup.” I may be back to you later today, if I need guidance on how to get it done.
Thanks in advance!

I’ve downloaded rt2870 linux USB driver, and burned it to a cd. Have researched how to install the driver, but can’t locate a solution.
Please help, and thanks in advance for your asistance.
