Hi,
I have a problem with my laptop - it freezes at random times. When it freezes I cannot do anything, ctrl+alt+backspace and alt+sysrq+reisub isnt working. I cannot move with mouse. I can only see the last frame that was displayed before freeze. If it freezes when I am listening to music, then a short part of music is repeating (about 1 sec). I always have to shut it down with laptop power button. It does not freeze very often, but I would like to repair it. I have updated ATI gfx driver.
I had exactly the same issue with Linux mint 11, where I didnt solve it. Windows 7 did the same, but new drivers solved it. Older version of Linux mint 9 is working perfectly (I would expect that newer version will work better than older). Also debian squeeze and SLAX works correctly. I am not sure about Ubuntu, because I had it only a short time, but it didnt freeze.
Is there any way how to find out what is causing the problem?
The worst thing is that it will take a long time until I find out if some suggestion works or not.
