Low grub2/console resolution

Hi,

I have Asus VE248H monitors that can do 1920x1080 resolution, I also have an Asus GE-640 graphic adapter. I installed the nvidia driver from the openSUSE community website oneCLICK install. Since I installed the nvidia driver (instead of the nouveau one), the maximum resolution I can have when booting or on a console (ex: alt-F1) is 640x480 wich is really too low to be acceptable considering I have HD minitors. Is there a way to have a better resolution ? I read a lot of post but not sure I fully understood everything. By the way I am on openSUSE 12.2 x86_64.

Just to be clear…
This is only affecting you during the boot sequence?

Once at the desktop you are OK?

As per Carl’s request, you should clarify that it only the console display mode you are having an issue with. If that is the case, see if the advice given here helps:

linux - How to set the resolution in text consoles (troubleshoot when any vga=... fails) - Unix and Linux

FWIW, a similar discussion I recall:

https://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/install-boot-login/464609-framebuffer-resolution.html

Yes it’s only affecting me while booting or once booted, only if I use a non-graphical console thru ALT-F1 to ALT-F6.

Thanks for the answers
