lot of new packages while upgrading to 11.2

hi

i just don’t understand, why are following application needed while upgrading the system. i’ve selected something like ‘plain X’ while fresh installing (about a month ago). i’m using fluxbox, so there is no need to install fe. gnome-themes. i also don’t use mono and so on…

Ouch!

A technique that works for me when something similar happens is to target a fundamental component such as Mono to be removed, and see what applications YaST says will break.

That’s how I found out Tomboy was dragging in tons of stuff unused by any other application.

A long shot is that it’s pulseaudio’s fault. Seriously.

Finally, it can’t hurt to install that stuff then slowly over time remove things in a controlled fashion, instead of trying to fix it all now, and risk breaking your system.

thats what i did. i’ve removed the /(mono|gnome|tomboy)/ packages via zypper - works good :wink: it also removed the /sharp/ packages, nice!
