I have an HP Pavilion laptop with radion graphics. On update to the latest KDE the brightness control dissapeared from the power control section of the KDE “System Settings” application. Now the screen brightness is stuck at 6 and I can find no GUI tool to reset it
Any help would be appreciated.
I have an older 32 system with radeon graphics.
I already disabled the brightness control on it. The reason: when the brightness reduced after an idle period, the screen would go blank and never recover. Rebooting was the only fix.
This is presumably a radeon driver bug.
My guess is that the KDE change you are seeing is intended as a work-around for that bug.
I have the same problem
xbacklight output is “No outputs have backlight property”, but i can change brightness with /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness
In gnome brightness control works fine.
