Looking for recomendations for graphics card, please.

Hello everyone,

I would like to upgrade my graphics card. However, since retiring, I have lost all track of “what is what” in the PC world!

My only reference point is my current card which is an AMD/ATI HD5550 (fanless).

What would be an equivalent five years down the line? All options are open but my starting point would be:

  1. Silent
  2. Dual head
  3. PCI-E x16 interface
  4. No on-board sound
  5. and of course, be completely(?) SUSE compatible
  6. In the one to two hundred GBP/USD/Euro range

New video cards might not work with older computers.
I can’t remember the specifics, but I had to buy a GT 640 for a 6 year old desktop

I’ve seen the GT 1030 are being made (depending on the brand) without fans.
Although, most cards run very quietly unless under heavy load.
Dust is a common reason for overheating and high fan speeds.

A list of programs or types of programs you use is needed for a recommendation.

I have a HP p6624y running a Nvidia 8800GT on Tumblweed (340.106 driver), I’m look at this card to replace it at some point;
ZOTAC GeForce GT 730 Zone Edition 2GB DDR3 PCI Express HDMI DVI Graphics Card (ZT-71113-20L)
This will run the later Nvidia drivers and is PCIx16, the only reason for me wanting to change is this one has 384 Cuda cores…

But if the current card is working with the radeon driver (does it need tweaking), why change?
