Hello I am a newbie w/ this forum and am still fairly new (AND GRATEFUL!!) w/ Linux. I am looking for some ideas for a self-regulated internet filter. Would like to be able to call a friend and say “Hey could you check up on me occasionally” and go from there. Any ideas?? thanks
Ryan
Not too sure what exactly you are after. Do you mean like a Porn filter?

i’m as confused as is caf4926, but wonder if by saying “Would like to
be able to call a friend and say ‘Hey could you check up on me
occasionally’ and go from there” maybe you are looking for a spam
filter for your mail that will let THAT friend through, but keep spam
out…is that your question?
if so, what openSUSE version are you using? what desktop environment
(KDE3, KDE4, Gnome, XFCE, etc)? and mail client are you using?
for a mail client i use Thunderbird which, while not totally
“self-regulating” it ‘learns’ what you don’t want to see as you click
to mark junk as such…and, does a pretty good job of letting Aunt
Tillie through to check on you, while keeping out those selling herbs
to make parts of your body proudly huge…
if you want ‘protection’ from inadvertent glimpses of nature while
browsing (aka: porn filter) say so…
