Looking for a professional DAO software

Hello,

my girlfriend is an architecte and she’d like to work with Linux.

So I’m looking for a “free” (or cheap) software to make schemas and 2D projects. No matter if it’s really “basic”, I’m just looking for something that works on OpenSuse first. rotfl!

Do you know a software to make this kind of stuff, please ?

Hi
Have a look at qcad: http://www.qcad.org/

It’s in the education repository.

hi Balika73
I am architect too
I can suggest you look at

  1. cycas cad (if your native language uses Latin letters) it has problems
with encoding because of old gtk
    http://cycas.de/
  2. for second you can look at medusa4 from cad-scroer
    http://www.cad-schroer.com looks good
  3. if you ok with German you can look at arcad, also it have english
version. But I did not found where I can download it.
  4. octree looks very good but I could not run it. I was trying in 11 and
    11.1 (it still in beta)
    http://www.octree.de/
  5. Sweet Home 3D
you can run it from packman repo
but do not expect much from it
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/sweethome3d/
    ~>sudo zypper in SweetHome3D
install it if you have packman repo
  6. wait for BricsCAD
    http://www.bricsys.com/en_INTL/bricscad/index.jsp
it should be good intellicad-based (it means it almost like autocad)
    http://www.bricsys.com/en_INTL/bricscad/index.jsp
    look at penguin
and please feed back in their forum “linux” section at “new version” topic,
    if you want it.

I am waiting for it.
Before it will be available try it in virtualmachine (virtualbox for examle)
in windows (or with wine, but in wine it very slow. wine is not a choice for
CAD) free 30 day version is available to download from their site. AFAIK you
can use it longer by request. academic version is free.
