Looking for a graphical FTP Client for KDE

Never used many Linux FTP
Clients. Looking for a good Linux FTP client.
Preferable graphical with kde interface. any suggestions?

Don’t do much with ftp, but konqueror manages it well. But in the past I have used Filezilla

I use Filezilla (V3.3.1) which is available on the OpenSuse network repository. It does all I need it to.

Filezilla (it actually has a GTK interface but works fine under KDE)

I use gftp (Gtk interface too)

my needs for a ftp client are sporatic, so in the midst of one furious weekend of finding things i installed an extension for firefox called FireFTP.

Very surprising and useful applet, from the Tools menu it creates a new tab with a ftpclient interface and works very very well.

Now it’s all i use for ftp… just works.

It does indeed work well +1

I just tend to use dolphin.

I split the view and then open the ftp server in the right hand pane and /home in the left.

Copying stuff backwards and forwards is simply done by dragging and dropping.

Any sites that I need to access on a regular basis are put into the places panel with passwords saved.

Just seems to keep it simpler than using an additional app.

Having problems with all these methods.
didn’t try fire ftp yet.

last time I did this easily through windows

with konqueror, dolphin and filezilla I get in after enterin user name and password then when I try to open the xboxs e drive it disconnects me. gotta try fire ftp later
hope i don’t have to use abc in a vm like last time.

I know the xbox uses ftp not sftp could that be the problem?>:(

I actually use FTP fairly heavily in my job, and I have used every solution mentioned thus far (FireFTP, Konqueror, Dolphin, gFTP) and a number of others (KFTPGrabber, KBear, etc). Overall, my choice is FileZilla.

FileZilla is multi-platform, so it runs on Linux, Windows and Mac (a plus in my book). Of all the Linux FTP apps I have used, FileZilla has been the most dependable and the most flexible.

Now, if you are looking for a browser-based solution that works on multiple platforms, FireFTP also does a great job. But I prefer a standalone application because of the volume of FTP that I do.

I also use KDE on the desktop, and FileZilla fits in just fine, in my opinion. Nice app.

Can you help me. why do i get in then have no access to the drives on the xbox? should i try running filezilla as root?

xbox? i think is a game machine, kinda like Vista on steroids or
something…maybe you should post to an xbox forum or maybe someone
in our games forum had one and knows something about it’s networking
capabilities, try: http://forums.opensuse.org/applications/games/

Could do that but it was a basic ftp concept.

might be a rights issue.

And this time I’m trying to do it from a suse linux box.

have done it successfully from windows

Your local rights shouldn’t have any effect on your rights on the remote box; it’s just a remote login. You might want to ask some Xbox experts.

yeah might as well in the meantime I got it mapped through samba and vmware player. my virtual xp prp station can ftp to it.

then i’d say it is not the first time that Redmond makes a game system
which works ok with other Redmond game systems, and nothing else…

so, you either need to us M$ to ftp to/from it, or find someone who
has successfully used anything other than M$ to talk to it…

might start with google, i think this forum is gonna be no help…sorry.

True but I can do it through vmware accessing the suse drive mapped through samba successfully on the vm. too bad ms disbanded the old teamxodus site. I used to get a lot of info there.
I posted here because i wanted to do it straight through suse linux.
The xenium is a hacked chip don’t think ms intended for any os to ftp to it. Have to find xbox hacking site with the answer.

anyway, we don’t support cracking here…

Try forcing eighter active or passive mode. Might work.
Do that with filezilla.

Don’t think so.

Any time things appear to be going better, you have overlooked
something.

I suppose you could sic a Ethernet sniffer like Wireshark on it, to
see what is different.
