long shutdown after installing official nvidia drivers

Shutdown or reboot takes several minutes after installing the official nvidia drivers from their website.

The screen goes blank and then goes into power saving after a short delay.
So it seems that the video stream has been terminated… pressing Esc doesn’t do anything.

I’ve read several topics about this, but couldn’t find a viable solution.

Has anyone solved this problem?

What hardware is this an Optimus based notebook?? What chip/card? Which driver tried? Where did you get it?

GTX 750
NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-361.42

Notebook or desktop? If notebook then almost certain it is Optimus hybrid graphics which must be treated differently.

Desktop.
Notebook products end with M or MX.

Yes but it is not unknown for people leave the M off. Discussion goes on for days and suddenly it is revelled that it is an optimus notebook

In tumbleweed you are running 4.5+ kernel You may want to check if NVIDIA has a beta driver that may work better

Thanks :-]

This is seemingly fixed;
and I can also switch to a virtual terminal with ctrl+alt+f1,
which was another problem.
