I have a Logitech keyboard K545 and mouse M510 usb connected and annoyingly I keep getting messages about the battery going flat. Using Solaar I can see that the keyboard only is going offline (not mouse). Is there anyway to either prevent this happening or at least suppress the notification? The keyboard does work still and comes back online as soon as I touch any key!
This seems to be a confirmed bug over at KDE. I just noticed the same problem with a K270 regularly giving â-1% batteryâ notifications when going into sleep mode.
Until the KDE devs get it figured out, the easy workaround is to open System Settings, go to Notifications, click Configure for Applications⌠in the top right, search for Power Management under System Services and uncheck the Peripheral Battery Low notification. This will turn off low battery notifications for the mouse as well, but itâs a decent workaround until the issue gets resolved.
Iâm glad I could help. Itâs not an ideal workaround, but it should get rid of the message.
Reading the bug reports more, it seems that upower changed how it reports âunknownâ battery levels. Before I think it gave a generic response of something around â50%â for unknown levels, but since the Frameworks 6.30 update it reports a level of â-1%â to make it clear that the battery level is unknown. Itâs a good change, but apparently the powerdevil maintainers didnât get the memo.
It looks like itâs already been fixed and merged, so we can expect an upcoming update to sort it out.
I wonder if that bug has been fixed by now. On my PC, running the latest Tumbleweed/KDE, Iâm still getting the low-battery warning. The keyboard Iâm using is a Logitech K470.
The worst part isnât the warning itself, but that the keyboard stops responding for a few moments.

Description :
KDE Power Management module. Provides kded daemon, DBus helper and KCM for
configuring Power settings.
Itâs still the same version (6.7.5-1.1) as when the problem began. The fix has been merged into the main branch of PowerDevil over at KDE, but it will take time before it gets released here.
I donât think this is related to PowerDevil, but just a result of your wireless keyboard entering a sleep state. They happen at the same time because the keyboard going to sleep is also what is triggering the âunknown battery levelâ issue.
Itâs natural for it to take a moment for a sleeping keyboard or mouse to âwake upâ again, but if it is taking an abnormally long time, it might be an issue with the wireless receiver or driver. My old K270âs Unifying receiver has always been pretty finicky about where it is placed in relation to the keyboard, but the newer K950âs Bolt receiver works a treat (except for when it was regularly crashing my system on suspend ).
As has already been stated, it is a known bug and has already been fixed upstream, but weâll have to wait for the new version to filter through OBS before it makes it into the official repository. These things take time,
If you are comfortable with patching and rebuilding the RPM yourself, itâs a very straightforward patch, but the workaround is so easy and effective that itâs definitely not worth it. Itâs way easier to just turn off notifications and be patient.
