I just installed SUSE 11.2 from a downloaded DVD The installation went correctly but now I boot up the computer and when the login screen appears there will be no box highlighting a user or even a blank box to input user. The restart, suspend and shutdown buttons are not operational. However, if I power down the computer manually and restart the login screen comes up normally. Any advice on what I can do short of reinstalling the operating system would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

So, does this mean that the login screen works every other time? I am not sure what to suggest, but normally when things are busted, it has the problem all of the time. I would say though, that if you just installed openSUSE 11.2 and can get it to work, why not download openSUSE 11.3 now and install it before you invest much time in making version 11.2 work?
Thank You,
