Login Screen changed

Hi,
if i start opensuse, it loads until the login screen is displayed. This is fine, but i somehow messed up with /etc/sysconfig editor and now the login screen is only a grey screen with an opensuse logo, an user-name prompt and a debug window (telling me my wlan is not connected).

I would like to change back to the old login screen, with options on the lower part of the screen, where i can change the keyboard layout, if i’d like to launch GNOME or KDE and so on.

I cant figure out what option i have to alter to go back to the old login screen, and since i dont remember what i changed i’m asking you to help me out.

Thanks for help.

You’re beholding xdm instead of kdm or gdm.
Change in /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager.

Kind regards,

Oh yes, i changed that value to gdm and now it is the old login screen.

This even solved another problem. With the old login screen i did not have any sound. I had to login as root to get sound. After changing this value back to gdm i can login as a user and get sound!

Thanks for help.
