Login problems on Suse 11.1

With my new Suse 11.1 I have problems logging in.
Initially the system behaved as expected but after a while it refused to let me log into Kde 4 after a reboot. The only way I can log in now is to start the console and then do a startx.
What can I do?
I have done a fschk.

Sounds like a problem with your graphics card what model ans driver do you have.
Also are you getting any errors

I haven’t found any error messages.

My display adapter is “nVidia GeForce 6200 TurboCache™” running on an AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor 3700+ in a ‘Shuttle SN25P’.

I may have been a bit unclear i my post:
after I start and log into a console and after doing a startx Kde 4 is up and running normally.
