login problem

i’m a new user

while installing opensuse i decided not to enter any username and password and this was accepted by the installer.

then - after installation - i want to start opensuse and … i get the username and password questions to open a session !

i press enter twice but it won’t open a session.

do i have to install opensuse all over again ?

thank in adance for your help

Perhaps try ‘root’ with no password but, otherwise, you’ll at least need
to set the ‘root’ user’s password manually or create a user by using a
disk to get to the hard drive and create the user/password.

Good luck.

Did you set a root password when installed openSUSE?

If so at the login screen enter root as the user and then the root password.

Once logged in go to YaST > Security and Users > User and Group Administration.

Add a new user, I think the default settings should all be okay.

Once done logoff and sign in as the new user.

You can set up the login manager to automatically log you in each time, I just can’t recall how to do that it the moment…
