I’ve configured a samba as PDC but i’m having troubles joining my win7 client to the domain.
I open system properties on the client, then check ‘domain’ and type in the name of my server name.
After hitting OK, it asks for a username and password. This is the part where I’m stuck. I don’t know which one I should type in.
I’ve followed this guide: Samba 3 as PDC ~ Linux Tutorials
At the end of the guide it says: ‘Now change your domain settings from workgroup to “EXAMPLE” and hit “OK”. it will prompt for the username and password of the server and then you should get a message “Welcome to EXAMPLE” domain.’
What do they mean with username and password of the server? Is it just the root or one of the 2 users that are made earlier? I’ve followed all his steps but it doesn’t work.
Anybody knows what I’m doing wrong?

You should review Chapter 15 of the Official Samba3 Howto on setting the rights to add machines to the domain.

root normally has this privilege. On the PDC check:
net rpc rights list <username>
