Hey all,
I was wondering, on the computer I installed openSUSE on, it does not require you to type in your password to login. It always automatically logs in. (Using GNOME) do I need to install GDM? But isn’t that already included?
That’s simply because you have only one user registered + only one desktop(GNOME). Since you have not configured any security yet, the default logs you in automatically. If you logout, it will ask you for you password.
What I am getting from your passage is that you’re wondering why it is not prompting you to type in a password every time you intend to log in. Here’s a quick solution.
Go to YaST2>User And Group Management>Select your user and go to Expert Options>De select “Auto Login”
Eventually just to test, reboot system and you will get in the log in desktop where you will be prompted to type in your password.
If this is not the case, respond more descriptively please.
Good luck!

It’s there, just set to auto-login. Yast: Security and Users: User
Management: Expert: Login something. You should be able to disable the
auto-login there.
Good luck.
