Login on mobile forum is wrong.

On the mobile version of the forum, login does not work.

https://forums.opensuse.org/login.php?do=login
(after sesion time out)

it is not going to the attachmate backend.

Hi
Who is attachmate? I’ve tested with and iPhone, a Kindle and an ASUS TF101 all login fine using the mobile template to the forum. Suggest you clear the cache.

Mobile template login works fine here too.

(Using Firefox on laptop, with “user agent overrider” set to
“Android/Firefox 29”. This notifies pages to give me the mobile page,
which is much less heavy on my current thethered and limited connection.

I was connected to the forum at my profile page. After some time with
the machine hibernated I came back, refreshed the page, and it refused
to display because I was no longer logged in. It asked if I wanted to
login. I entered my login/pass, and said it was wrong, and that I had
four more attempts before being rejected for 15 minutes. I have never
seen this previously. Tried twice, with verified pass.

So I opened another tab, without clearing cookies. Typed forum address.
Clicked on login (which is not obvious to find). Got redirected to
attachmate page. Yes, attachmate, I’m not confused. Typed login/pass and
entered.

I tried to log out, and in to verify, but page refused to log out.

However, if you view https://forums.suse.com/forum.php it says:

openSUSE Forums

I know that is not our current name. But it is written there.

Let it die (timeout on the session), then when you try to see your
profile and fails because you are not logged in, try to login from that
point.

It is there that fails. Direct entry works.

Hi
Don’t you think it would have been more helpful to post the above
information in your original post?

These are not the SUSE forums, if you have an issue then suggest you
hit the Feedback button on their forum page…

Don’t you think I would know that, after so many years here?

No, I’m using the link at the bottom of that page (which happened to be
in the browser history, so it appeared first) that points to the
opensuse forums. There I clicked on the opensuse forums.

malcolmlewis said “Who is attachmate?”, and I then posted that link,
which is not the one I’m using to login, to show him an official SUSE
page that still mentions attachmate.

I’m at https://forums.opensuse.org/mobile.php?do=gridmenu
I click log out. I’m sent to
https://www.suse.com/AGLogout?r=https%3A//forums.opensuse.org/forum.php&logouthash=14427931*****

which is a white page.

I go to again to
https://forums.opensuse.org/mobile.php?do=gridmenu, by typing
the address, and I’m still logged in. So I log out again. I’m sent again to
https://www.suse.com/AGLogout?r=https%3A//forums.opensuse.org/forum.php&logouthash=14427*****

So I clear out some cookies (suse.com, forums.opensuse.org, attachmate,
microfocus). But I’m still logged in. I’ll try again tomorrow. Perhaps
after the night sleep, the session will be timed out.

After a standard login and working, very occasionally I get an error where a page (whatever reason) cannot be reloaded and retry just gets the error repeated. In those very few situations, I prefer not to waste my time fretting over it, and that of others with investigation. It’s easier and faster to “reset” back to square one, whatever that means depending on one’s situation at that moment. For my case it usually means clicking on a bookmark taking me back to forum’s home page, and usually I’m still logged in, but if not I can perform a clean login.

AFAICT it’s also not possible to log directly back in from the logged out page. One has to go to a fresh login page. I queried the issue a long time ago, and it’s been on the back burner for year(s). It doesn’t seem to seriously affect anyone. I don’t expect perfection in a system where password security and login is protected elsewhere in the network. Little problems will happen from time to time.
