I upgraded from 42.1 and my system seems very slow, login takes about 20 to 30 seconds to load the desktop and opening a Konsole window takes about 10 seconds. I posted another thread about Kile freezing up the system as well. I think these are both related and an artifact of left over garbage in my home directory. Creating another user and logging in only takes about 5 seconds, and launching Konsole for example takes about half a second, compared to about 10 under my own profile. I deleted everything in /home/user/.cache and /home/user/.kde4/cachexxx and tmpxxx but that doesn’t seem to have affected anything, at least not permanently. Deleting files from the /home/user/.kde4/cachexxx etc. directories, logging out and logging back in again does speed everything up. However, once I reboot, I’m back to the sluggish performance. Anyone have any suggestions as to what may be causing this?
Thanks.
