Log Out Bug?

For some reason, when I press shutdown, opensuse goes to the login screen. When I press the shutdown button, nothing happens. The funny thing is that when I press restart when shutdown doesn’t work, it restarts.

When I press restart computer, it brings me to login screen and restart button doesn’t work in login screen and when I press shutdown, it works. Anyone else have this issue?

Installed with opensuse 11.2 gnome livecd install

No issue heere, but I am using KDE so…
Might be a gnome bug.

I found the same thing!

On Xfce this occured after installing nVidia drivers from either the repo or compiled from nVidia’s site. It took a while to figure this out but it appears that the nVidia drivers conflict with the X server. This did not occur on 11.1/KDE.

Uninstall the nVidia drivers, or maybe try fixing it in xorg.conf. Just use the ‘nv’ native drivers. Fixed it for me.

you think novell will fix this?

hopefully they will soon

My PC has the same behaviour but with an ATI-card (Radeon HD 2400XT).
Pretty annoying bug.
I hope they will fix it soon. Now sometimes I have to shutdown my PC the hard way.

I have the same issue with a Dell D600 laptop with an ATI display adapter.

I have the same issue with an sony vaio whit an Intel Extreme Graphics 2

Does this happen on Gnome desktop and KDM as login manager ?
See here: Shutdown/restart from Gnome just log me out

To get around this, when I’m ready to power down, I switch to the console <Ctrl><Alt><F1> and then type:

shutdown now -h <Enter>

This will bring an orderly shutdown until the fix for the bug is out.

This is a known bug
