Lock/Login screen unresponsive when Tumbleweed auto-locks

When my Tumbleweed auto-locks the desktop it takes over 30 seconds to show the login UI controls (password entry field, etc.). When I lock the desktop explicitly (via keyboard or UI actions) the login screen / controls are visible and available immediately after I activate keyboard or mouse.

This started happening 2-3 months ago, at first I wasn’t sure if I’m doing something wrong, then I was waiting for a fix, but things are still broken.

I’ve got KDE, Wayland, nVidia, Intel i5. Not sure where or what to look for. Would appreciate any hints or advice.

A first, and easy test, is to create a brand new user account.

Next, logout of your regular user account, then login with the new user account. Allow it to auto-lock. Now, tap a keystroke (etc) to bring up the login screen. Instantaneous, or the same 30 second wait ??

A second test … (no need for a new user account). Do your initial login and choose, “Plasma / X11” vs “Plasma / Wayland”. Any difference ??
