sorry, noob q.
i’ve looked all over the dl page, i’ve even followed lots of the links from that page but i can’t find any md5’s.
i’ve even read a number of posts about md5 in the hope that they just my say “i’ve dl’d the md5 from …”, but no joy.
where are the md5’s kept please?
p.s.
might it not be a good idea to show the location of the md5’s on the dl page?
select what install media/version/bit you want…like DVD vs Live
(CD); and 32 vs 64 bit; and Gnome vs KDE vs Network
scroll down the download page until coming to “Verify your download
(optional, for experts)” then look a little further down and see the
“md5 checksum” link and click it
just now i do that with 32 bit DVD selected up above that link and i find:
simple!! (but, don’t feel bad you are absolutely not the first to not
scroll down that download page…imo the download button should be at
the bottom of the page…)
again, welcome! (lots of stuff different here…read and ask!)
i am so sorry, i had seen the md5 on software.opensuse.org: Download openSUSE 12.1 but when i looked it was still set for the default dvd settings. after i started the dl of the 32 bit kde cd vers, i never thought it would be so “intelligent” - clearly i am only used to, should we say, less organised distro’s
(i’m not really dissing the other guys, honestly, i think they all do a fantastic job).

i doubt you are more “very old” than me, but if you are or not:
WELCOME…and, ask the questions you need to ask…but, if you are used
to those huge books of stuff that used to come in the box…you might
like some of the things you find in doc.opensuse.org or in the wiki at en.opensuse.org (caution, unfortunately most you find might be a little
(or a lot) dated…so, do ask if you need…)
i’m doing all this encouraging because when you get your “sea legs” here
you might find it fulfilling, if not entertaining, to help a bit…
since you hint at experience in other distros i guess you know that
several things here are done our way…so, don’t forget the old: When
you have seen one Linux, you have seen one linux.
as well, don’t let the title of our “New User How To/FAQ” forum
<http://tinyurl.com/32g4nmp> cause you to skip it all, because while
there is stuff in there you know, there is also stuff that any
new-to-SUSE/openSUSE folks need to know, and were not exposed to it in
DOS or other flavors of *nix…
