Local sub-forums?

do you people think it would be useful to have sub-forums for different locales?

taking the idea from ubuntuforums, mainly. I found it useful for ice-breaking and a good way to get an “in” to the commnunity. wider than that, it could also work for setting up local meets, local support groups, or just general axe-murdering meets (whatever people are into).

has this been looked at or discussed before? what do you guys think?

failing that, do you think it might be useful to have a general “say hi” forum?

Been discussed here Regional subforums - openSUSE Forums & also between admin/mod staff

Local forums already exist in many parts of the world which cater for local needs; the advantage of the openSUSE forums is that they allow people to share information about issues which may be less common and therefore less likely to have been met in a local forum - and of course to focus on strictly openSUSE issues.

yes, try:

  1. Search (and be smart or search not and look unsmart).
  2. If find, Read and Add comments, ideas.
  3. If not find, Ask (and look smart).

Maybe do other way (ask first, look/think second)in UbuntuLand, but many there
not so smart–or they leave and come to SUSE!

Welcome you kinda-smart here.
