loading iptables at boot

Dear All,
I have to restore iptables every time I boot my computer, which is annoying.

Please help me load the iptables rules at stratup.

Thanks in advance

A comment for those trying to help: it is about “10.1”.

It is an old release, so what we have on our machines may not apply to
yours.

You will have to explain how you are doing that, because normally
openSUSE users simply use “SuSEfirewal2”, not manual iptables rules.

You might consider using “/etc/sysconfig/scripts/SuSEfirewall2-custom”.

Ugh! If confirmed by the OP, that will mean that it pre-dates the great shift to ‘systemd’, and the entire start-up system will be different. Much to my embarrassment I find that I cannot now remember how start-up used to work in detail, even though I lived with it for many years…

  • well, if you were doing the default thing (using yast to setup the suse firewall), it would just work
  • you might be using iptables-save and iptables restore to, err, save and restore rulesets (there is a good reason for doing that in a particular use case, but maybe you don’t have that use case)
  • you might be running, eg, a bash script that generates firewall rulesets on the fly; this is probably the most flexible, but you’d need to be clear

So, a bit more background, please (and I’ll try to remember how startup used to work, if my grey matter hasn’t become too grey and faded). And what version you are actually running (it sounds as if it is going to be a version that hasn’t been supported for some time, which raises questions.)

See http://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php?t=497969 He
confirmed the version in that thread.

The correct answer was given. The original poster declined to give
further info, so the thread was dropped into oblivion.

I recommend you do post your question in a new thread, supplying the
needed information. It is impossible to give a better answer with the
information so far available.
