Live KDE Login ???

Hi all

Having downloaded and burned the Live KDE ISO to a cd, I find a difficulty.

The cd boots up and the system is ready for the ‘trial’ but then, and without any other intervention, it asks for a login name and password.

I have searched the site to find no mention of the name and password to use having tried the obvious ‘password’, ‘admin’, ‘guest’ etc etc.

Got any ideas??

I’d love to get in and browse a while, while drifting slowly towards Sunday when I can do a full install from the DVD.

where did you download it from?
the live cd from http://software.opensuse.org does not require either
ID or password until in the midst of the install when you establish
the one you want…

there are many other versions on the net…and, you will have to find
the answer on the site of the folks who made the iso…

is the screen green, or black? if green it is either from another site
OR the cd is faulty…

did you check it to be 100% with a md5sum test on the iso prior to
burning? (see: http://tinyurl.com/ycgm2bx for details on how to do
that) AND, then after burning check the disk with the first green
screen menu…

if the screen is black with white letters it may be a disk image from
some none opensuse.org source OR you may have a problem with your
graphic…what do you have nVidia, intel, ATI or other…

do you have a web cam in your limo?

Have a lot of fun…

downloaded from this (Novell’s Software.openSUSE.org) site today.

There’s no install for this setup. its a case of burn the ISO to cd and run the cd!

Byte for byte correct download.

It simply brings up a login screen asking for user name and password.

No webcams yet but investigating a small (VERY SMALL) cam.

added this from the page,

Live KDE
A KDE desktop you can run from CD or from USB stick. Can be installed as is (no upgrade).

Its not a full ‘set up’ program !!!

ok…you can install from it, but you are right it should boot up to
a desktop…OR you have a conflict of some sort…probably with
graphics…

byte for byte huh?
did you md5sum check it, or not?

> It simply brings up a login screen asking for user name and password.

sounds like a corrupt disk.

how much ram do you have? i think some machines with low RAM will fail
to boot and ask for log in instead…BUT, i am SURE if you got it
from opensuse.org it does NOT require a log in…it will boot right up
to a desktop…

try again:
check media…
other unanswered questions from my earlier post…
