little niggles on 13.2

OK, I like it,

But!

there is always a but…

Why does this keyboard thing startup using US even though I have
specifically told it to use UK/GB??? and even though it is using UK it
still shows US on the icon???

This I suppose was the problem I posted about before about keyboard issues.

also have tried plasma 5 and yes it works but the desktop has a problem with
fonts, the task bar etc are completely unreadable ( well not quite but some
characters are ) and the taskbar, menues and like are unusable.

This happens from the normal oss and tumbleweed/factory) repos.

even after a full format and install.

Oh and while we are at it I cannot get any sound out of Minecraft, this is
the most important thing for an old f*rt like me  and when I try half
life (original) with wine do expect more…

Please take as lighthearted not critic.

Cheers

Not happening to me

I tried it in a sandbox. Decided it’s not ready enough

Sorry, I just don’t have time for playing games nor even the interest.

Doesn’t happen for me. How did you tell it to switch to UK? I always do
it on an install by pressing F2 as soon as the DVD welcome panel is
replaced by the menu.

I did just that but no difference ( complete install on spare drive ) but I
did find that it was the Ibus thingymgig that even though I had only UK
language selected ( and only UK ) it still showed on the taskbar as US.

Not that it made any difference

Anyway I seem to have got round it.

Mant more questions but not enough time

Cheers Graham.

Yeah I found out it is the Ibus icon n the system tray, no matter which
language is selected and only one in the prefs it still shows US on the
taskbar???

Not that I mind because I just told it to not show the icon  Sorry to
all over the pond

Ah so you will not get this reply then so I will go and play a game instead
because at my time of life games are more important than work :stuck_out_tongue:

Cheers though, and do not take this too seriously…

The Plasma 5 I cannot figure out and just for info, all KDE 4 and other
stuff renders fine just the plasma 5 task-bar, menus and stuff, I think it
has something to do with the fonts???

I have also noticed that in “Minecraft” the same appears in the initial
screen, there are certain letters “C” and others that do not render and look
like a very badly drawn “V” this is as good as I can describe it, if anyone
wants a screenshot then please ask but not of plasma 5 because I am not
going to d/l and then delete it again ( limited bandwidth and 2 gig down
then another is getting a bit near the end for this month )

Cheers.
