Linux 6.6 longterm anywhere available like Kernel:stable:Backport?

Hi,
is there a repo like Kernel:stable:Backport which provides a Leap installable kernel package for longterm version 6.6 x86_64?
My hardware is only supported in the newer kernels, but the 6.9 tree from Kernel:stable:Backport is releasing so often new versions.
I’ve found the Slowroll repos, but there is no backport for KMP.
Seems to be the only repo providing by the compatible Kernel:stable:Backport:KMP packages or do I overlook anything?

You don’t have to install every new kernel that shows up in that repo.

Perhaps consider giving Leap 15.6 a try. Or maybe try just the kernel from 15.6.

Since i had bothered the gurus here with similar questions a few times and learned a few things in the mean time, question (regards AMD and Intel):
Do i really need a latest Kernel if i can have latest MESA via Flatpack aka the ‘Software’ application in OpenSuse Leap 15.5?

And second question, where i seriously miss the plot so far:
How can i ensure that a specific Mesa version is active?

If i check via glxinfo -B, it tells me, my Mesa is version 22.3.5 (shall be okay for AMD 6000 series).
If i check ‘Software’ (aka Flatpak), i shall have Mesa version 24.0.4 AND 24.0.6.
So why do i have so many versions of Mesa and how / where can i configure which is active (if that’s a good idea at all)?
(in this context: My Steam is from Flatpak, does this mean that my Flatpak Steam uses the Flatpak Mesa and if yes, which?)

Kernel version, vs. Mesa version – those are two different questions.

Generally speaking, kernel updates in Leap are correcting security problems.

My earlier post above was specifically about kernels from “Kernel:stable:backport”. While those might be dealing with security issues, they are more often just testing newer kernels for people who need the latest. If your system is running well, you probably don’t need to install every new kernel from “Kernel:stable:backport”. But you should be concerned about security issues covered by regular kernel updates for the standard Leap kernel.

Whether or not you need the latest Mesa is a different question. For me, everything is working well. But then I’m not a gamer.

Kernel:stable is the testing kernel for the openSUSE Tumbleweed Kernel.
It’s build from the last official stable Kernel from kernel.org.

kernel:stable:backport is the same kernel, but build with packages from Leap, otherwise you can’t install this kernel in Leap without errors.
