This is w.r.t. 12.2 install; I have installed Linphone, but it doesn’t allow video connection.
I found a German review, that had the same experience, and apparently opensuse has
not included this facility, does anyone know if this is going to be corrected?
Regards,
As always, use Packman’s version.
From what I understand, Packman doesn’t include it either.

My original install was from packman; Removed it, and reloaded, it still doesn’t work.
Could it be that I am using i586 , and not 86_64, which seems to be offered?
Regards,
Hi
So does zypper if linphone show version 3.5.2-80?
So, I remove YATE , just in case ---- but on install, there still showed (3) conflicts; In order to ‘resolve’
I opted for the first one (as the other viable one didn’t work), and I did get a video window, together with
the camera image, but now it has disappeared, after doing an echo test.
The installation is:- 3.5.2-80.1
Regards,
Just to update, loss of video was ‘finger-problem’, I wasn.t aware that it actually resides seperately,
and closed it accidently.

Hi
Go figure, so I’m assuming all is now good and the issue resolved?

Thanks for your input.
I know this is a bit off-track, but seeing as it was packaged for a specific O.S.,
then why do conflicts exist, as these seem to cause problems at some later stage?
Regards,
Hi
Generally it’s either repository priority and even switching vendors (either OBS projects or packman).
You need to run a zypper if <package> to see what repo it’s coming from. I generally use YaST software management as it gives a nice view via the versions tab.
For what it’s worth, these are my options:-
3.5.2-80.1-i586 from vendor PackMan :: Startseite (installed)
3.5.2-80.1-i586 from packman repository with priority 99 and vendor PackMan :: Startseite
3.5.2-80.1-i586 from packman-i586 with priority 99 and vendor PackMan :: Startseite
3.5.2-8o.1-i586 from openSUSE-12.2-Oss with priority 99 and vendor openSUSE
As I am obvious a newbie, maybe you would be kind enough to explain the above, so that when
I have to do similar, it will not be such a mystery.
Many thanks,
David.
Have you mistyped the above or is that really what you see?
This is what I have listed - which is as it should be.
ImageShack - Best place for all of your image hosting and image sharing needs](ImageShack - linphone.jpeg)
There is one version from packman, one from the OSS repo and one from the install DVD. The OSS and install DVD versions are identical.
Also showing are i586 versions in the OSS and Packman repo but not the install DVD because I have the x86_64 install DVD
How many instances of packman do you have showing in your repository manager?
What I actually typed was this:-
as shown, but on lines 1,2 & 3 packman.links2linux.de
but when printed, it came out as you see it.
I do appreciate your feedback, as I have searched extensively, and find no guidance on selecting which
to select, when there are options available, all guides just say; Download
I cannot believe that I am the only one, trying to make sense of options, when there is no information
available.
Regards’
actually, what I was referring to is that it appears you have two packman repositories showing
3.5.2-80.1-i586 from packman repository . . .
and
3.5.2-80.1-i586 from packman-i586 . . .
if you go to ‘Yast > Software > Software Repositories’
see how many instances of packman you have listed. There should be only one.
If you are unsure about what should and shouldn’t be there - delete both instances (if there is more than one) and then re-add by clicking ‘Add > Community Repositories’ and select packman from the list.
I think the advice is that generally - when there is a version of something you want in packman then you should use the packman version over the OSS version.

That is one of the reasons we request people to use code tags. Advanced
editor, ‘#’ button.

Hi,
What I typed, is as it is; That is to say, 4 entries as listed, with the
first one listed as installed; Which was you first recommendation.
Given the options available, would that still be the case, or would an
alternative been preferable? i.e. openSUSE12,2Oss.
Also, what is priority 99.
Regards,
If what you typed earlier were accurate it probably would not matter as every option you listed was identical.
3.5.2-80.1-i586 from . . .
3.5.2-80.1-i586 from packman . . .
3.5.2-80.1-i586 from packman-i586 . . .
3.5.2-8o.1-i586 from openSUSE-12.2-Oss . . .
However, I believe there are inaccuracies in what you typed because you listed
3.5.2-8o.1-i586 from openSUSE-12.2-Oss with priority 99 and vendor openSUSE
which should be incorrect. The version in Oss is 3.5.2-3.1.2 (an older version)
Also, you have the same packman repository listed twice with a different name for each listing. Correct this and one option will disappear.
And, as mentioned in my previous post
I think the advice is that generally - when there is a version of something you want in packman then you should use the packman version over the OSS version.
You are correct, I didn’t type what I was seeing, but I am now a bit clearer in my
understanding of ‘options’.
Now I need to persue the ‘code tags’ aspect, which I know nothing about, but
obviously need to, if I am not going to generate incorrect postings.
Regards,
using code tags in Opensuse is the same as most other forums.
However, in the Suse forums it is made easy for you with a toolbar button to take care of it.
Simply hi-light the code you want to include in the post and hit the code tag (#) button
http://img818.imageshack.us/img818/7923/toolbaryi.jpg
your earlier post would have then looked like this
3.5.2-80.1-i586 from packman repository with priority 99 and vendor http://packman.links2linux.de
