Linksys WUSB54GC not working

The usb device scans in Windows with a driver but i can’t find a linux driver so i installed ndiswrapper.

ifconfig does not list the wlan0 device.
iwconfig lists wlan0
YaST2 doesn’t find any networks.
Ethernet works just fine.

Like many people you seem to think that everybodu knows what level of openSUSE you have installed. I do not know, thus the following is pure guesswork.

Do you have the package kernel-firmware installed?

Dit you use Search - openSUSE.org searching for “Linksys WUSB54GC”?

Oh sorry, I installed a server. OpenSUSE 11.4

Are you sure you really want to use ndiswrapper?

You need to provide the output of ‘lsusb’. I’m quite certain that the WUSB54GC
has a Linux driver, but the IDs will provide a definitive answer.

Thanks for the info. I do not exectly know what you mean with a server, but I guess it is a text only install. Does not matter very much I guess.

BTW, I doubt that you need ndiswrapper. Best is to read through the links provided by the search. And wait for some gurus that will come here

Edit: As lwfinger says, we need the lsusb listing (didn’t you read the “sticky” threads at the top of this Wireless subforum?)

Yes, kernel-firmware got it working thanks

You are welcome.

(and do not forget to uninstall ndiswrapper).
