linksys wireless PCI card setup

Alright, so I have a linksys PCI wireless card. I am new to linux and am having issues getting this to work. Also, I am obviously connecting to a router. There is no wireless security enabled.

Go to the Sub Forum entitled Wireless, which is under Networks, and
read the stickies there, in particular the one entitled “My wireless
doesn’t - a primer on what I should do next”. Determine the
information that you are asked to provide, and post it in that Forum.
The sticky entitled “Additional wireless bits” also has useful
information as well.

In the future this thread might be better suited in the Wireless forum.

Hello and welcome to the openSUSE forums. I moved the thread so you can get more targeted advice (hopefully).

This might be useful reading for you:
Madwifi or Ndiswrapper Wireless Network Drivers - Suse/openSUSE 10, 11 - LAN & Internet access

You’ll need to configure (and perhaps install drivers for) the PCI network interface. If you tell us what the model of the Linksys card is and what the PCI ID number is, we can tell you which of these three approaches you should use:

  • Linux Native drivers
  • Madwifi drivers for Atheros cards
  • Ndiswrapper to install Windows drivers that come with the PCI card

You can get the PCI ID by method related in the section “Diagnostic Tools and Testing – Discover the Device ID” in the Tutorial I linked above.
