Linksys card not working properly

I read through the sticky of wireless card not working, and I followed through with the steps, with the exception of looking for firmware, because I’m certain it has it, being that the card works when I’m running Windows, and overall the system recognizes the device.

The only difference is, I notice that the activity light on the card itself does not turn on when running openSUSE. It recognizes the card, it even detects the network, but when I enter the WEP key and finish, it does nothing afterwards. Still no internet.

Card: Linksys WMP54G v4.1

Any idea as to what could be wrong?

try running this diagnostic script for wireless;

that is recommended in one of the advice stickies that start this forum

Benutzeranleitung/Usersguide von/of collectNWData | collectNWData.sh

copy and paste the results back here;

Okay, here are the results: nopaste.info - free nopaste script and service

thanks;

if you have a look at some of the error messages,

eg

!!! CND0120E: Network card wlan0 has no IP address

the diagnostic script has extensive backup and explanations and it suggests you go here

Fehlermeldungen/Errormessages | collectNWData.sh Fehlermeldungen

and for each of the error messages

eg

CND0120E above

there is a whole page to answer

so for CND0120E

you get this page

CND0120E | collectNWData.sh Fehlermeldungen

that might help you work through your setup

and for

!!! CND0300E: No dhcp server found on interface wlan0

you select CND0300E

and go to the appropriate page which is

CND0300E | collectNWData.sh Fehlermeldungen

(having clicked on the select English button)

and again it tells you about your system

even for anyone with a working system, it seems to offer great explanations of wireless

and if when you enter

/sbin/lspci -nnk

you get something approximating

Network controller [0280]: Ralink RT2561/Rt61 802.11g PCI [1814:0301] subsystem: Linksys wmp54g ver 4.1 [1737:0055] Kernel driver in use: rt61pc1

I went through all the steps described in the link, but I am still getting no activity from my network card. It’s receiving no signal, it’s not picking up anything. Like I’ve said before, the activity light that usually turns on, is not lit when I’m running openSUSE 11.2
