I am about to attempt to create a super light weight server and am looking for any advice/resources that would help me strip down a suse install.(very very possible that i have weak google fu)
The grand plan is to be able to boot this install off a usb, insta server, but for the short term getting it running on bad hardware will suffice.
small fast and efficient is what im going for here , like my pb ejac record hahahahahahahahah
One of the options of the DVD install is a server, sans X. There are probably some services included that you might want to turn off; you can do that in YaST/System/sysconfig editor and in the Run Level Services module, too. Or you can uninstall those packages, although with some you will get “pattern” errors.
There is also something called “JeOS” aka “limejuice”. As in, “just enough operating system”. Also take a look at the newest Build Service tools; you can create a “product” from the bottom up.
option 1 was my original plan, new plan is jeOS clone in suse(lol @ middle management, sif just use jeOS). This solves all my problems and makes this project seem much more doable(i wise so close to lfs(lol @ middle management again))
ps
