Does anyone know of the Libreoffice repository is ever going to move beyond release 24.8.3.2? I get almost daily updates to this release, where we should be around 25.2.4
Hiya. I don’t know if there’s dedicated repo for Libreoffice but OpenSUSE ships 25.2.3.2 in OpenSUSE Tumbleweed. Probably it’s best to wait for OpenSUSE Leap 16.0 to be released this year in October if you want updated Libreoffice without too much hustle.
@jwac01 LibreOffice 25.x.x fails to build for Leap 15.6
That is the reason why newer versions are only available for Tumbleweed atm.
As there is no special LibreOffice repository within the group of “official” repos (LibreOffice is in the official OSS repo and updates are in the official OSS-Update repos), you seem to point to a non-official repo. Please then at least give the URL of it. And I assume you must try to find out who is the maintainer of that repo to get an answer.
The Flatpak version is 25.2.3.2 … use Discover to install that.
Or the upstream .rpm should also install (but I didn’t check for 25.2.3)
Or, as already suggested, wait for Leap 16 in the fall or switch to Tumbleweed if you really need the last and the brightest (and the rough at times )
I agree to install and use the FlatPak version. Much less hassle and stays current.
Personally, I would NEVER switch to Tumbleweed, just to have a newer version of LibreOffice. Doing that is way overkill
Shared codebase delivers an update to 24.8.6.2:
LibreOffice 24.x is EoL (End-of-Life) in June 2025:
Still wait some weeks for the update to LibreOffice 25.x from SUSE.
Better option, instead of waiting, is as I suggested - the Flatpak.
