After update of ffmpeg to version 1.0 LibreOffice Impress crashes when trying to play videos. I have the following terminal output:
libva: VA-API version 0.33.0
libva: va_getDriverName() returns 0
libva: Trying to open /usr/lib64/dri/i965_drv_video.so
libva: Found init function __vaDriverInit_0_33
libva error: /usr/lib64/dri/i965_drv_video.so init failed
libva: va_openDriver() returns -1
ERROR: Caught a segmentation fault while loading plugin file:
/usr/lib64/gstreamer-0.10/libgstffmpeg.so
Please either:
remove it and restart.
run with --gst-disable-segtrap --gst-disable-registry-fork and debug.
It seems to me that libva issues are not the cause of crash. I’ve tried to play the same files in vlc, got the same libva-related messages, but playback was OK. Consequently, the problem is in connection of gstreamer and ffmpeg.
Totem (also gstreamer-based) plays everything OK. So it seems it’s only LibreOffice issue…
Please, help! Any ideas?
OS: OpenSUSE 12.2 64 bit.
P.S. I failed to find earlier ffmpeg packages for OpenSUSE 12.2.
It’s played in totem, kaffeine, vlc, mplayer, but it causes LibreOffice Impress crash. Make sure you have the latest version of gstreamer and ffmpeg packages.

No, we need an impress document that loads a video (and I guess the video would be inside the
file). I have never directly opened a video from LO, I don’t know how to do that, and I see no
reason to use impress instead of xine or mplayer.

Oh.
The only thing I can do is test if it crashes here, but I’m not familiar with impress.

but suddenly became too lazy to read all the half-million-plus hits to
be sure…but it seems that others can do it…so, i guess there is
probably a pointer to the LO documention or an on-line guide somewhere
in that google list of hits…

I did a quick test. I started a new presentation, and in the slide that is presented there I
inserted the first video I could find in my computer. I then told it to show the slides, a the
video played: sound, no image. Tested the same video with xine and mplayer and it played right.
I have “libreoffice-3.5.4.7-4.8.1.x86_64” in 12.1 here.
I don’t know if I did the insertion right; there is an entry below insert image named insert
video… I hope that’s all. The video is large, though: 1334 MB. Should I try a smaller one?
