libreoffice crash

Hi
When i use Libreoffice it always takes a long time to load, when it does it freezes and i have to close the app. When I try to open the file again, I get the Libreoffice Document Recovery window
If i press the button to recover the file it crashes the computer, I have to restart

I would have posted the messages from /var/log/messages but that does not seem to be there any more, it says file not found. In YAST and at the command line. I would like to know where that has gone

Thank you, for your help, it is always appreciated

Try to run it in a terminal window. Do you get some suspicious messages?
Also, what desktop are you using?
Try to uninstall libreoffice-gnome or libreoffice-kde4, maybe it’s a problem with the desktop integration.

If i press the button to recover the file it crashes the computer, I have to restart

If the computer crashes completely, it’s most likely a graphics driver issue.
What graphics card/driver are you using?

Can you please post your /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old after such a crash?

By default systemd’s journal is used on 13.2.
To get back /var/log/messages, you’d have to install a syslog daemon (rsyslog e.g.).

You can read the systemd journal with “journalctl”, see its man page for further options.

A YaST module for reading the journal has been created too meanwhile, but it’s not included in 13.2 yet.

Thank you wolfi323 I have been do some research and found that it is a problem with some files not all. There where no messages startiing from the command line. I have an Geforce GT730 card, installation installed drivers I am using KDE The Xorg.0.log.old is 46 kb isn’t that a bit big to post here. is it possible to attach it. Thank you the other info

So you are using nouveau.
I would suggest to install the proprietary nvidia driver instead and see if it still freezes/crashes then:
https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:NVIDIA_drivers

nouveau still has severe problems with certain cards at least.

You can upload it to any sharing/pasting site (e.g. http://susepaste.org/) and post a link.

My LibreOffice has been crashing in a similar way for the last two months. I removed the offending "libreoffice-kde4’ and it now starts. Wonderful. Now, the question is: Is there a fix to add KDE integration? Because it just looks horrible, now.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the KDE integration. I never had any problems with it on my 13.2 system.
But if it’s activated, LO might be more susceptible to graphics driver bugs/problems.

An alternative might be to use libreoffice-gnome instead.
